Gauging Perception and Informing Marketing Strategy

In 2012, fraud prevention specialist Kount made the strategic decision to increase its presence within Europe and enlisted SkyParlour to oversee its European PR and Communications strategy. Kount and its flagship solution Kount Complete™ were already well respected by stakeholders and partners alike in the USA; however the extent of its profile outside its home territory needed to be more fully understood to build and implement an effective marketing strategy.

The Strategy

 

To gauge perception of Kount with stakeholders in Europe, SkyParlour conducted an External Perception Audit (EPA) taking opinions from a cross-section of representatives including potential customers, media, industry commentators and competitors.

 

After working closely with Kount to devise a bespoke questionnaire, SkyParlour carried out the EPA in Q1 of 2013 via a series of telephone interviews and in person meetings. Respondents came from a number of sectors including cards and payments, gaming, eCommerce, retail, fraud prevention, social networking and leisure, to build perspective from a large cross-section of the industry.

 

Using the results, SkyParlour created a detailed report including qualitative and quantitative analysis to help Kount understand the European landscape.

 

The Results

 

The results of the EPA provided Kount with detailed analytical information on current market perspectives in Europe. Working with SkyParlour, this led to the development of an effective, targeted marketing and communications strategy, which saw Kount quickly raise its profile and drive sales across Europe.

 

The EPA report has been used throughout the year at board-level and is now considered core to planning marketing strategy. The EPA will now be conducted annually and across more geographies to give a comprehensive view of perception globally.
